Overview
The Analyst role supports Charter Growth Capital’s private investment activities, playing an integral role in all aspects of deal execution. Working directly with senior deal leads on mezzanine debt and minority equity transactions, the Analyst is an active contributor during every phase of the deal process and portfolio management. The role involves a high degree of exposure to sponsors and business owners and requires strong project management skills backed by a foundation of advanced quantitative skills to successfully close new investments and manage the existing portfolio. This position coordinates with other CGC personnel and is a full-time role in Grand Rapids, MI with no remote option.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support investment execution, including processing confidentiality agreements, detailed due diligence tracking, term sheet drafting, financial modeling, reviewing third-party due diligence reports, underwriting, and presenting to the investment committee across a broad range of companies and industries.
- Build and prepare a wide variety of quantitative analyses, including LBO, debt and equity financing models, comparable transaction, and accretion/dilution analyses.
- Analyze prospective portfolio company data including financial statements, detailed customer and service/product line data, backlog details, capital expenditures, and other ad hoc work.
- Identify and document key characteristics of potential investments including investment highlights, risks, growth plans, investment theses, and post-close action plans.
- Update portfolio company data and monitor the progress of value creation goals for active investments.
- Refresh and refine financial reporting deliverables for investors and partners.
- Maintain CGC’s AI-enabled deal funnel and relationship database.
Desired Skills and Credentials
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with major in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. Introductory familiarity with privateequity and private credit industry.
- Experience: 0-2 years of work experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, or otherquantitative financial advisoryservices.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to write investment memorandum documents and communicateeffectively to a broad range of stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills:Candidate must be proficient in analyzing financialstatements, trends, and businessmodels.
- QualitativeSkills: Candidate must be able to review pertinent market trends, industry research, competitor products/services, and customerprofiles in order to develop and support an investment thesis.
- Technical Skills: Candidate is expected to be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and leverage all of Charter’s subscriptions and open‐source utilities in order to produce relevant financial models and analyses.
- Time Management Skills: Candidate is expected to work on multiple transactions simultaneously, therefore time management and prioritization are necessities in order to thrive in this role.
